Cedar City, Utah is a quaint town with plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy! Sam and Jordyn love taking walks here, where the stunning red rock landscape provides a beautiful backdrop at every turn, making it one of their favorite activities. Here’s a list of some of our favorite spots in and around the area:
+Brian Head: Known as a ski resort in winter, Brian Head offers stunning views and trails during the summer.
+Explore Historic Downtown: Sam and Jordyn love browsing through Main Street Bookstore and grabbing a coffee next door at The Grind Coffeehouse.
+West Canyon Park & Coal Creek: Take a stroll through West Canyon Park and explore Coal Creek, which has refreshing water holes perfect for cooling off.
+Hike Ashdown Gorge: Often called Cedar City’s mini version of The Narrows, this hike is a hidden gem.
Activity Recommendations in (and near) St. George
+Zion National Park:
Just over an hour from St. George, Zion National Park is a must-see destination for breathtaking views and world-class hiking trails like Angels Landing, the Narrows, and Emerald Pools.
+Go Tubing on the Virgin River:
Located about 20 minutes outside St. George in Virgin, Utah, Zion Tubing offers a fun and refreshing way to beat the heat while enjoying the beautiful scenery along the river.
+Quail Creek State Park:
This picturesque state park is perfect for cooling off. Paddleboard rentals are a must for exploring the calm, clear waters. You can also enjoy kayaking, swimming, or simply relaxing by the shore.
+Snow Canyon State Park:
Just 20 minutes from St. George, this stunning park features red and white sandstone cliffs, lava tubes, and miles of hiking and biking trails. It’s an ideal spot for both adventure and photography.
+Sand Hollow State Park:
Known for its sparkling reservoir surrounded by red sandstone, Sand Hollow is ideal for boating, paddleboarding, fishing, and even cliff jumping. ATV rentals are also available to explore the nearby sand dunes.
+Downtown St. George:
Take a stroll through historic downtown St. George, where you’ll find local boutiques, antique shops, and specialty stores. Don’t miss Judd’s Store, a nostalgic spot for candy, snacks, and gifts.
+Red Cliffs Mall
For a more traditional shopping experience, head to Red Cliffs Mall, featuring popular retailers, dining options, and occasional community events.
Food Recommendations In Cedar City
FAST FOOD:
Mo’ Bettahs Hawaiian Style Food (delicious Hawaiian food). Costa Vida (for yummy Mexican food and homemade tortillas).
Dougnutsville (for great breakfast sandwiches and donuts).
Great Harvest (delicious sandwiches and homemade bread). Tropical Smoothie Cafe (there are not a lot of options for smoothies in town, but TSC is delicious).
RESTAURANTS:
Centro Woodfired Pizza (one of Jordyn’s favorite pizza spots—the Centro Italiano pizza is highly recommended).
The French Spot (a cute cafe with delicious sandwiches, coffee, and more—the bagel and lox sandwich is highly recommended). Mandarin (for nice dining and great Chinese food).
The Pub (delicious salads and sandwiches—the chipotle sandwich is highly recommended).
Chef Alfredo’s (for nicer dining and great Italian food).
The Pizza Cart (fantastic pizza).
COFFEE SHOPS:
Bristlecone—one of the best (if not the best) coffee shops in Cedar City.
Perks (a quick drive thru coffee cart with lots of options). The Grind Coffeehouse (great coffee, teas, breakfast sandwiches and more) DESSERT: The Creamery (this is actually 30 minutes past Cedar City in Beaver, but it has some of the best ice cream ever!) Hermies Drive Inn (for delicious milkshakes, soft serve, and blizzards similar to Dairy Queen). Pie Crumbs (for delicious pie slices). Cones Shaved Ice (best shaved ice ever). Tea Tok or Tea&Brown (for great boba).
Food Recommendations in St. George
RESTAURANTS: Viva Chicken (Peruvian cuisine with delicious rotisserie chicken, plantains, salads, wraps, etc). Sakura (similar to Benihana, this restaurant has a lively, clean environment and fantastic hibachi).
